DIY Fly Fishing - Gear Rentals
Our DIY rental service is an affordable way for anyone to experience the incredible fly fishing Juneau has to offer. We provide quality gear to keep you comfortable on the water, featuring stockingfoot waders from Grundéns, wading boots from Grundéns (men's) and Redington (women's), and rod, reel, and line combos from Cortland.
How it Works & Policies
- Reservations & Timing: Book online at least 24 hours in advance (no walk-ins). We use a front-porch lockbox for 24/7 pickups and drop-offs.
- Last minute bookings: If you need gear in less than 24 hours, email info@tidewaterflyfishing.com and we’ll do our best to help you.
- Location: In the Mendenhall Valley near Melvin Park. We do not offer delivery; you will need a vehicle to reach us (and to reach the fishing). Directions will be provided with your confirmation.
- Cancellation Policy: Full payment is required at the time of booking. Cancel up to 48 hours in advance for a 50% refund. Cancellations less than 48 hours prior to your rental are non-refundable.
Tips for Cruise Passengers
Cruise ships dock downtown, but our gear is in the Mendenhall Valley, (about a 20 minute drive from downtown). To maximize your fishing time and avoid expensive airport taxi rides, rent a vehicle from a downtown car rental company or use Turo.com and look for options with downtown delivery. That way, you can head straight to our location, grab your gear, and get fishing. As a bonus, we are located about 5 minutes away from the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center, a must-see while you're out in the Valley!
